Sohail Mered Joins GemCap as Head of Legal

We are delighted to welcome a new member of the GemCap team: Sohail Mered, who joins us as Head of Legal.

Sohaïl joins GemCap from State Street Global Advisors where she served as senior legal counsel for nine years, advising its regulated investment firms in France and Ireland on all aspects of their EU institutional business, including corporate governance, regulatory, and client matters, as well as multiple corporate restructurings. Sohaïl also served as co-chair of SSGA’s Global Diversity Council, and as a member of State Street’s Global Pro Bono Committee.

Sohaïl has over 15 years’ experience as in-house counsel with leading global asset managers, beginning in New York and moving to London, Paris and Dublin. Sohaïl is a member of the New York Bar and holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. In her free time, Sohaïl enjoys volunteering in her community. Originally from Algeria and raised in the US, Sohaïl is bilingual, fluent in French and English.
